The first three Slow Money National Gatherings have brought together roughly 2000 people from 36 states and several foreign countries. These events are quickly emerging as a significant new venue for field building, investing, and social change. 23,000 people have signed the Slow Money Principles, 2,400 members have contributed $1.7 million to the Slow Money Alliance, 14 local Slow Money chapters have been formed and $16.5 million has been invested in 102 small food enterprises. In 2012 we are organizing both an East Coast event at Stone Barns on April 22nd and an investor event on November 8-9 at Cavallo Point in San Francisco. Stay tuned for an announcement about the next National Gathering. We highly recommend signing the Slow Money Principles or becoming a member now to stay in touch.
"There was a moment when I looked around the tent at Shelburne Farms to see the wonderful old codgers who have been farming in Vermont for generations, sitting with young environmentalists and food entrepreneurs and New York investment types, all nodding in agreement. Wow. Talk about being the change we seek. It was a profoundly hopeful moment."
